At least two high-rise buildings were damaged by drone attacks, city officials reported.
The Ukrainian State Emergency Service said rescuers evacuated two people from one damaged building. Another ten people were rescued from a five-story building where they were trapped after the attack.
Klitschko also stated that a fire broke out in an educational institution and fires were reported at several non-residential buildings.
A large fire was observed south of central Kiev, and the consequences of the attack were recorded in several city districts, including Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi, Darnicki, Podilskyi, and Dniprovskyi.
This night attack followed an agreement between Russia and Ukraine on a three-day mutual pause in air strikes on major cities.
Moscow announced a pause in attacks on Kiev on September 6 during the visit of American special envoys Steve Vickoff and Jared Kushner, who arrived in the Ukrainian capital for peace talks.
During their visit, Kiev was not targeted by air strikes. However, according to Ukrainian reports, after the departure of the American envoys on September 7, Russia resumed sending drones to the capital.
Air raid sirens sounded throughout the night in other parts of Ukraine, including Rivne Oblast in the northwest of the country. The Ukrainian Air Force had previously warned that Russia had likely launched cruise missiles from Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers.
